Teacher thank you cards with kids

When my daughter was three and finishing up her first year of Montessori, I sent her to school with teacher thank you cards. I wanted (and still want!) her to learn the importance of thanking people. (Especially her teachers – THANK YOU to all the teachers out there!!) Since it was going to be a stretch to have her write the cards herself (not to mention, illegible) I settled on having her write “Thank you” and her name. We tucked in a gift card to the local gelato and coffee shop for a special summer treat. The gift card had its own cute graphic as an added bonus. Then I placed it all in an envelope that we (I) embossed with their names in gold. These were pretty basic cards and envelopes from Target, but the gold embossing made them seem extra special.

I learned to emboss from the friendly folks at Papersource, at a demo they happened to be doing one day. If you’re interested in trying it, it’s easy! You’ll need a stamp or stamps, sticky watermark stamp pad, embossing powder (a little jar of embossing powder lasts a long time) and an embossing heat tool. I also just discovered there is such a thing as embossing pens, which I’d love to try one of these days as well.

On the last day of school, I hovered in the doorway at drop-off and watched as she proudly presented each of her teachers with their respective card. This was a sweet little activity/teaching moment with my little one. Hope you enjoyed taking a peek at these teacher thank you cards!
