Snoopy Party in the Park

When Baby L turned two, his favorite things were a Snoopy doll and a blue blanket. So we decided to go with a classic Snoopy party theme at a local park to celebrate the occasion. But, Snoopy is not seemingly as popular as other current children’s shows, so we purchased select items and made others. Take a peek!

I found a free cupcake topper printable from HaleGrafx featuring the Peanuts gang and printed them at home on our inkjet on cardstock. I had a paper punch to cut them with, which is a huge time saver. (As an aside, despite appearances, no minors touched the lighter in the background! Please keep out of reach of children.) The “two” banner I made myself, by folding diamond-shaped paper over string, and gluing the points together. It is tied onto bamboo kabob skewers, which I intentionally kept tall to ensure there is distance between the banner and lit candle.

For the kids’ table, rather than searching for Peanuts branded plates and napkins, I found plates and napkins in a fun patterns that enforced the blue and yellow theme. I purchased some double-sided paper Peanuts characters online and inserted them into table place card holders. However, the wind had a tendency to blow them over (as can be seen in the cupcake photo above.) I suggest adding some weights to the underside of the card holders to help prevent this from happening.

The generic park picnic shelter was a little plain, so I made some tissue paper flowers to make it more festive. This is one of my favorite (and inexpensive) ways to add decor. There are many tutorials online, and it’s hard to mess up. Peeling the layers apart and fluffing them up take some time, so be sure to budget for it! Although they’re easier to pack flat, I fluffed them up at home prior to the party to save some time at the park.

As a parting thank you gift, we sent each child home with an IKEA Vitmossa throw blanket. I downloaded a Peanuts font from the internet along with the images of Linus and Snoopy and created the labels. These were then attached to the blanket label with double sided tape. I was happy that we came up with something that would potentially be more useful than the usual assortment of plastic toys (which we’ve also done before, not knocking it!)
